One day, when I received an Amazon order, my son asked, “Papa, can I have the carton box?” As soon as he got it, he began thinking about what he could make out of it. Then he asked, “Do you have some idea?” I said, “The box looks like a bus. Why don’t you make one?” With a little help, he turned that ordinary box into a beautiful bus.
This moment reminded me of a powerful truth: we are created in the image of a creative God.
God created all living and non-living things. Yet, among all His creation, only human beings were given the capacity to be co-creators with Him. Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created mankind in his own image… male and female he created them.” And then He blessed them and gave them the responsibility to care for His creation (Genesis 1:28).
From stitching clothes out of leaves (Genesis 3:7) to living in space for months on the International Space Station—our creativity is a gift from God. He didn’t make us robots. He shared with us His nature: to imagine, build, shape, and bring beauty into the world.
This creativity shows up not just in inventions or art, but even in our marriage and relationships—in how we solve problems, communicate, and express love.
Are you using your God-given creativity today?
Prayer
Creative Creator, thank You for making me in Your image. Help me to use the imagination, wisdom, and creativity You’ve given me to bless others and bring glory to You. Amen.
